Opportunities for Kindness

Winter Coat, Hat & Gloves

Sycamore Bridges is working with a Greene school counselor to assist a student in obtaining a winter coat, hat, and gloves for the upcoming season. The student outgrew their previous winter attire and the family is unable to purchase new items at this time. Thanks to a generous donation, we are able to purchase what the student needs to get through the cold weather ahead. No additional donations are needed at this time.

Thanksgiving Meals for 20 Families

Sycamore Bridges is working with our Kindness Council members All Scapes & Sizes and Barlion's Poultry, Fish & Seafood to provide entire Thanksgiving meals to 20 elementary school families. Thanks to their generosity, each family will receive a fresh turkey from Barlion's along with all the fixings, compliments of All Scapes & Sizes, to fill their tables during this long holiday break. Offering this type of support to our most vulnerable families while all of the kids are home from school brings relief to already stressed budgets. We are so grateful to these incredible businesses who choose to give back to their alma mater! No additional donations are needed.

TWO WEEKS LEFT TO DONATE: 2025 OGB Holiday Store!

OUR LISTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO REFLECT THE MOST CURRENT NEEDS!

Sycamore Bridges is excited to partner with Operation Give Back to help fill their annual Holiday Store for the sixth year in a row! We recognize the added financial struggle for many families around the holidays, especially this year, and we believe everyone should be able to celebrate this special time together in a carefree way. OGB and Sycamore Bridges work together to curate OUR AMAZON REGISTRY and OUR TARGET WISH LIST to reflect the families' most requested gifts as they register for the Holiday Store. OGB served over 1500 children last year and they expect similar numbers this holiday season; therefore, our lists are extensive. Please scroll all the way through to find options at every price point. Our lists will be updated frequently, so check back often to see the latest requests. Remember to select  "OGB Holiday Store" for shipping so your purchases are sent directly to us. Thank you for your continued support in making sure all of our neighbors have a memorable holiday season. (If you would like a tax receipt for your purchase, reply to this post and we will email you!)

Recently Filled Needs

Student Lunch Debt

Our incredible Kindness Council member, Spice Spice Baby Cincinnati, has generously donated a portion of their sales from the Sycamore Arts & Crafts Show to wipe away student lunch debt. We are so grateful for their continued partnership to make sure all students receive hot lunches without worry. Make sure to visit them online or at their booth at Painted Tree Boutiques to "spice" up your holidays. Their products make excellent gifts too! This donation will clear out balances for two families who have accumulated debt because of financial hardship, but do not currently qualify for free/reduced lunch plans. Offering this relief takes a huge burden off their backs. No additional donations are needed at this time.

Lyft Gift Cards for 5 Students

Sycamore Bridges has been asked to purchase (5) $25 Lyft gift cards to support students in the foster care system so they can easily attend a Thanksgiving event hosted at United Way. The event brings children together who are experiencing similar circumstances during the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks to a generous donor, this request was filled before being posted. No additional funds are needed.

Eyeglass Repair for HS Student

Sycamore Bridges is working with a HS teacher to assist a student who accidentally broke their glasses. The student maintains a current prescription, but insurance does not cover the cost of the replacement. This single parent household cannot afford a new pair of glasses at this time. We are collecting $159.60 to cover this cost. If you would like to contribute, CLICK HERE and designate your donation to "Eyeglass Repair".

UC Blue Ash Student Success Tables

Sycamore Bridges is working with UC Blue Ash to support students facing food insecurity. Due to the government shut down, UCBA is seeing a record number of students who do not know where to get their next meal. In an effort to combat this reality AND make sure students attend school, we are sponsoring additional Student Success tables the remainder of the semester. We are providing shelf stable breakfast and lunch options that are available to students for free. We expect to serve 100-150 students with these items. Our generous corporate grant covers the entirety of this cost. No additional donations are needed at this time.

One Week's Hotel Stay

Sycamore Bridges is working with a community advocate to assist a single mom and her three children who are temporarily living in a local hotel. With the loss of SNAP benefits, mom's finances are extremely tight this month. We have been asked to help alleviate some of her burden by paying one week of her monthly hotel expense. This will give her some breathing room to fill in the gaps that SNAP usually covered. Thanks to a generous donation to cover families experiencing housing emergencies, this request was filled before being posted.

Partial Rental Payment

Sycamore Bridges is working with St. Vincent de Paul to assist with a partial rent payment for a young Sycamore family who has one child. Dad works a commission-based job that has been slower than typical in recent months, while mom recently got a job after having a baby. This small family is in need of $700 to pay their rent on time. With mom now working, they will be able to meet their future expenses. **Please note: We only have $350 left to collect on this request.** If you would like to offer assistance, CLICK HERE and designate your donation to "Partial Rent".
