Tuscaloosa City Bridges

We are creating a small calming sensory tent at school for a student who becomes overwhelmed and needs a quiet space to regulate emotions. Through observation, we have learned that this student responds especially well to LOL-themed items, which help her feel comfortable, safe, and more willing to use calming strategies.

To help make this space effective for her, we are requesting a few LOL sensory items. An Amazon link to the some example items has been provided below. Having these familiar and preferred items in the tent will help the student calm down, reset, while remaining in the classroom.

Help some 1st grade students attend a field trip to the Birmingham Zoo. The cost for each student is $62.00. Total cost needed is $247.

2nd grade students are going on a field trip to the exciting Sharktooth Creek in Aliceville, Alabama where they will explore fossils and learn about natural history firsthand. This hands-on experience enhances classroom learning while inspiring curiosity and a deeper appreciation for science and the environment. Cost for each student is $35. We need a total of $105.

A kindergarten Student needs $40 to cover the cost to attend a field trip to the Birmingham zoo. 

Our school is hoping to obtain a pink calming tent for a student who greatly benefits from having a quiet, safe space to regulate emotions during the school day. This student sometimes becomes overwhelmed and needs a small, comfortable area where they can step away briefly, calm down, and return to learning ready to succeed. A pink tent would provide a gentle, comforting environment that helps the student feel secure and supported while practicing self-regulation skills. Any support in helping us provide this calming space would be greatly appreciated and would make a meaningful difference in this child’s school experience. We have a student at our school who is currently in need of adult diapers to use during the school day. I have attached the Amazon link for the specific brand and type that the student uses.

If anyone is able to assist with this need, it would be greatly appreciated.

Student in need of eczema lotion. 

A high school teen is in need of comfortable walking shoes at school. The student's sneakers are hurting his feet and he is in need of another pair of shoes. His mother is not financially able to purchase him another pair of shoes at this time. His current shoes are worn out. The student would be very thankful for comforter sneakers/tennis shoes that he can walk in.

Site 18- BELTS (black or brown) needed for girls and boys in all sizes 

Site 18 is in need of khaki pants for young women ranging from sizes 0-14.  There is also a need for khaki pants for young men ranging in sizes 30-38 with inseams of 30, 32, 34.  Young ladies need white, plain polo style shirts with size S-XXL and plain, white, long-sleeved, button shirts for young men with sizes M-XL.  There is a need for plain, white polo styled shirts for boys ranging from sizes 6-14 and pants for boys ranging in sizes 6-14.
