Opportunities for Kindness

Christmas Food Box

Our local schools have been flooded with requests for food assistance for the holidays. Our students and their families would be so grateful for our support. We have a goal to feed 10 local families over the break. We can use your support in a variety of ways. We will be filling boxes with a holiday meal and a few essentials to help our families feel seen and loved.
Donate any amount to our GiveButter account to help us purchase refrigerated items like ham, eggs, butter, milk and cheese. $5-$100 and anywhere in between will help so much. You can sponsor the box for a family for $50.
Would you rather shop? Please consider these specific requests so that we are able to provide each family with a similar box. We were blessed with many canned goods from a food drive at McAdory Middle School, so we have plenty of veggies, tuna, soup and mashed potatoes. Please consider donating the following items:
20 Canned chicken
20 Canned fruit
10 Grape or Strawberry Jelly
10 bags of Flour
10 bags of Sugar
10 boxes instant oatmeal
10 large boxes of cereal

If you can help, please use the link on the website to click the “I can help” button. This will allow us to know who can help with which items and help us schedule drop offs. We will update our list as neighbors commit to helping.

Recently Filled Needs

Family needs/father has recently been deported

The father of one of our students has recently been deported and mom has 3 daughters she is trying to support now. She listed needs for food, Thanksgiving, and Christmas gifts for them.

Carseat needed

A car seat is needed for a 3 year old who is around 35 lbs.  Gently used-but not too old (legal restrictions), would be just fine! Can anyone help?

Groceries and help with power bill

We have a family who is in need of help with their power bill.  They also need groceries. We've had several families this fall in need of groceries- and neighbors have shopped and dropped off groceries for us to deliver to them-and families have been SO grateful! Relief for this family can come in the form of a grocery gift card, actual groceries, or a donation through our website.  Money for the power bill can be given in the form of a donation through our website.  A member from neighborhood bridges will pay on this power bill directly to Alabama Power.

Mom is in need of gas card and groceries

A mom with four students in McAdory area schools has gotten up the courage to ask for help with gas (to get to and from a new job), and groceries. Let's rally together with gas cards, groceries, or grocery cards. Please reply with what you can help with and when and where you can drop it off.  Drop off any time during the school day: McAdory Middle (labeled "Megan Douglas") or McCalla Elementary (labeled "Grizzard") or McAdory Elementary labeled "Kaitlin Fisher")
